Thinking about embarking on therapy can be a very daunting task and finding the right therapist is very important. Many studies have shown that it is the relationship between therapist and client, rather than the theoretical approach of the therapist, which most determines how helpful and effective the outcomes of therapy might be.
I offer you an initial meeting, where you will have the opportunity to make sure you feel comfortable with me and learn a bit more about the way I work. We will talk about what brings you to therapy, as well as what you might want to gain from it. If you would like to work with me, we will agree a time frame for the therapy, whether short-term or longer, open-ended work, depending on the issues you wish to be addressed. If either of us decides at your first meeting that it would be more beneficial for you to work with another therapist, I will be happy to help you with recommendations and referrals. Therapy sessions last for a standard 50 minutes, at the same time and in the same place each week, as far as possible.
